Americans are FLUMING over Gas prices says Humorist Will Roberts

I feel like I don’t even need to read the newspaper or watch the evening news for my comments today. My subject has the popularity of an old penny, and like an old penny it keeps showing up.
I’m talking about the subject of gas and oil. No matter who says what about it, It has the nerve and the ego to show up, inflate itself and taunt us on how we can’t live without it.
Maybe it’s just me but, this gas conversation is set to go off every 4 years, you know to match the election season and every time it does the gas prices goes higher and higher. Now, Cents-able folks know the price hikes have to do with supply and demand, and of course inflation. Don’t get me wrong, I know that gas and oil has a silent partner that throws in their 2 cents as well, politicians, or an easier word to understand; Lobbiests!

 

These partners know that they won’t get all those big dinners and all the perks of the job if they don’t convince folks that their way is the best way… Drill baby DRILL! But, I’m talking about convincing the American people, not the politicians. Political folks are simple to convince; you can sway them just by waving a voter’s ballot in front of their face. You might even catch them drooling at the same time.

 

It’s all about passing the buck and seeing if they can keep a little as they pass it.
It used to be that a dollar spent was easily trackable… the place you spent it and the place they buy their goods from… end of deal. Nowadays if the person you give the dollar to gets even a penny for their goods in the end, well, they’re lucky. I can only imagine that gas and oil profits are spread so thin that someday soon gas and oil companies might file for nonprofit status.
As long as there are folks that are looking out for us in the future (Envolmentalist) and other folks that only has an “interest” in living in the moment (money in the pocket) (Gas and Oil boys) we will have a this conflict. It’s a little bit like Mom trying to convince you to clean up your room because it will make you a better person down the road, and Dad coming in and saying “I’ll give you $5 a week to keep it dirty.” This is in no way saying that drilling is bad, and that Mother nature can muster up the elements we need to provide.

 

See, there’s an old adage “you can’t take it with you” (so get it and spend it as fast as you can.) This is the motto of the gas and oil boys.

 

The bottom line is that elections make our politicians act like divorced deadbeat dads… promises, presents, and procrastination.

 

My plan: put a moratorium on politicians saying anything that sounds like a promise or a plan. They just have to stick to hugging babies, and defending their political record. Oh, and I think we should make it mandatory that everyone running for office should have their mothers in the audience at debates. that should cut down on the lying, well for at least for the politicians with mothers.
