Will Roberts political satire or political humor all the same it’s all funny business to me!
Rob: Well with all the dour economic news, it’s pretty easy to lose your sense of humor. So who better to help us find it than our own humorist, Will Roberts, in his weekly telegram. Will Roberts: Now this week I’m talking about a very serious subject. And that subject is, humor; the serious side of humor and the lack of it in our country. Now as you notice, I’m not facing you, and that’s because I don’t want you to be affected by the way I look, and I’m going to try everything I can to make you folks, well, have a little humor in your life. Here we go; see. I know you’re laughing right now. But see, that’s what I think we’re missing right now in our country, is humor. But I understand that right now things are just a little bit too serious to be humorous. But the way I look at it, and the folks tell me, is that I’m in a good business, because I’m in the business of making people laugh as opposed to our government making folks into the business of crying. Well, I do have some weapons in my arsenal, size thirteen-and-a-half, uh wide. Then there’s the media. With headlines like this, who needs a Hollywood writer? I’m driving down the road, when I don’t look like this; and folks are just not looking so happy. I see them in there talking to themselves, and sometimes the people that they love, and they don’t look like they’re very happy. Well, I just think that from now on we have to try to look at things a little bit differently. We do live in the land of the free, the home of the brave; we’ve shown that in the last eight years. Now, I’m hoping that you folks take what I have to say as some free advice, which is of course the best four letter word in the English language. Go on out, make someone laugh. Entertainment has always gotten us to be able to, I don’t know, kind of lose ourselves for a moment. I think this is one of those moments right now. It’s time to lose ourselves in a little bit of humor, and it starts with you. That’s my word of advice, but what do I know; I’m just a rope spinning cowboy who’s part timing as a clown right now. Ha ha. I’m Will Roberts, and this is your weekly telegram. Oh, come on, smile. Rob: And if you would like to hear more of Will’s unique perspective on weekly events, just head to our web site and click on Will’s podcast.
